ISC Group launched into Asia in 2013, as a result of an opportunity to work with DTZ Facilities and Engineering (S) Limited, which has overall health and safety responsibility at the Sports Hub. The futuristic-looking $1.33bn facility, which opened earlier this year, with its motto ‘where Singapore comes to play’, includes the republic’s new 55,000-seat National Stadium, OCBC Arena for indoor sports, OCBC Aquatic Centre, Water Sports Centre, Sports Library and Museum, Visitor Centre, Retail Mall, Community Facilities and the existing 13,000-seat Singapore Indoor Stadium.
The Singapore-based company, Integrated Security Consultant’s (S) Pte Ltd, launched this international expansion to initially source and recruit a permanent security team to be employed by DTZ, who deploy the workforce at the various venues across the Sports Hub.
Roger Hooker, previously Venue Management Cluster Manager for London 2012 and Venue General Manager at Games Time for the organising committee across the Wembley Olympic site, has led the mobilisation of ISC Singapore since its incorporation last year.
Greg Gillin, Senior Director at DTZ said: “Modern multipurpose sports, entertainment and lifestyle precincts are very complex operating environments and the Singapore Sports Hub is no exception. DTZ is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for users of the Sports Hub and recognise the importance of striking a balance between security and crowd management to ensure our visitors experience isn’t diminished by an overwhelming security presence. To achieve this DTZ looked to partner with a supplier who has global experience in security, risk reduction, crowd and event management in large public facilities. ISC Group’s experienced management team and working history on and with some of the global events are perfectly suited to the precinct, and we look forward to working with them to create a safe and secure Sports Hub.”
“The Singapore Sports Hub will be one of the world’s highest profile centres of sporting excellence and we are privileged to become its security partner,” confirmed Pat Carr, Managing Director of the ISC Group. “We believe our appointment is a significant vote of confidence both in the ISC London, ISC Singapore and the event standards we champion. In pursuit of our long term ambitions for international growth, our new operation in Singapore has the best possible leadership in Roger Hooker to meet the exacting standards of the hub as well as promoting further expansion in Southeast Asia and beyond.”
